Walmart’s Continuing Investment in El Salvador

On December 2, the chain will open its first warehouse-type store in the country.

The Walmart supermarket chain has invested $4 million in the development of the new supermarket opening in the municipality of San Marcos.

The store, which has a low-price format, required 8 months of paperwork and $500,000 invested in Corporate Social Responsibility schemes. reports: "This project used part of the $40 million that Walmart plans to invest in the country this year, to fund new store openings, renovations and investment in technology, according to Claudia Ibanez, manager of corporate affairs at Walmart Mexico and Central America.

By the end of the year, Walmart El Salvador will have 79 stores in four different formats. There will also be more than 4,000 employees on the payroll. "

Walmart to Invest $43.6 Million in Honduras

The construction of three new stores by the supermarket chain will create 338 direct posts and more than 5,000 indirect jobs.

The investment was announced by Walmart general manager, Alberto Ebrad, after a meeting with Honduran president, Porfirio Lobo. Ebrad indicated that this will be the company's main investment this year in Central America.

New Walmart Stores in Costa Rica

The multinational retail chain is in the process of opening two new outlets in Costa Rica for this year.

These are in the Palí format and are located at Cristo Rey and San Rafael de Montes de Oca.
