Visitors keep pouring in to Panama

The number of visitors to Panama keeps on increasing.

The statistics department of the Panama Tourism Institute reports that 554,126 visitors arrived in the first four months of this year, up from 507,920 in the same period of 2007.
Of this year's total, 370,860 arrived by air, 42,113 by land and 141,207 by sea.

Visitors to Panama Keep Increasing

October 2012

In the first nine months of the year the number of tourists coming to the country increased by 6.9% compared to the same period in 2011.

Between January and September 530,574 tourists arrived, 98,907 more than in the same period in 2011.

"Foreign exchange earnings amounted to 1.6731 billion, an increase of 19.5%, or approximately an additional $273 million compared to the previous period.

Tourist Arrivals to Panama Up 5%

Between January and July, the country received 1,236,407 visitors, a 5.4% increase compared to the same period in 2011, when there were 1,172,565 visitors.

The total paid by tourists for the same period was $1.301 billion, an increase of 19% compared to the previous year when spending was $1.093 billion.

Tourist arrivals in Panama grow 14.2%

December 2008

The number of tourist arrivals from January to October 2008 grew to 1.23 million, 153 thousand more than for the same period last year.

Just in October alone, 25 thousand tourists more than last year entered the country; this is a growth of 25.4%. The best growth was for maritime tourist arrivals according to preliminary data, coinciding with the start of the new cruise ship season, which improved by 83.5% compared to last year.

Panama expects more than 1.5 million tourists

June 2008

More than 1.5 million tourists will arrive in Panama during 2008, an increase of about 20 percent, according to Rubén Blades, Panama's Minister of Tourism.

Blades told a meeting of the Association of Press Correspondents in Panama that the impressive growth rate requires that the country speed up its expansion of services and production to meet the growing demand.
