Vehicles in Panama: Sales up to January 2019

According to the downward trend reported in recent years, in January 2019, 3,324 vehicles were registered in the country, 17% less than in the same month in 2018.

The most recent report of the General Comptroller of the Republic, details that between January 2018 and the same month of 2019, the number of units registered in the country fell from 3,997 to 3,324.

During the first month of 2019, sales of SUV's reported a 11% decrease over January 2018, dropping from 1,385 to 1,233 units, and Pick Ups sales recorded a 20% decrease, dropping from 499 to 398 units.

On the other hand, trucks also recorded a decrease for the months concerned from 125 to 80 units, representing a 36% decrease.

As a result of the downward trend reported in recent years, between January and March this year 11,292 vehicles were registered in the country, 11% less than in the same period in 2018.

The most recent data from the General Comptroller of the Republic detail that between the first quarter of 2018 and the same period of 2019, the number of units registered in the country fell from 12,618 to 11,292.

No One Wants New Cars in Panama Anymore?

November 2018

Between January and September 2018, in accordance with the behavior reported since last year, 37,078 new vehicles were registered, 13% less than in the same period in 2017.

According to the most recent figures of the General Comptroller, from January to September 2018, 12,938 new automobile type vehicles were registered, 21% less than the 16,299 units registered in the same period of 2017.
