Unopetrol Acquires Rubis Nicaragua

The company, part of the Terra Group, has completed the acquisition of Rubis Nicaragua.

After several months of negotiations, the fuel company Unopetrol has completed the buying process of Rubis Nicaragua, positioning itself as a leader in the oil market in Central America.

The agreement between the parties also includes the acquisition of assets in Costa Rica and Belize, in addition to all of Rubis‘s businesses. Rubis, of French origin, had already sold part of its operation to ChevronTexaco in late 2010.

An article in Elperiodico.com.gt states: "With this acquisition, Unopetrol has consolidated itself in the Central American market with more than 500 fuel stations in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Belize, aviation operations in 5 countries, asphalt in 4 countries, its own brand of lubricant UNO and other complementary businesses. "

Shell Oil is negotiating with Petróleos Delta the sale of all its assets and operations in Costa Rica.

The company confirmed the news to inquiries made by La Nacion of Costa Rica.

"The transaction is part of Shell's global strategy to concentrate its business in supply, distribution, marketing and sales in a smaller number of markets, globally."
