Trust to finance the construction of Fire Stations

Through means of a public works trust the state insurer in Costa Rica will raise money in the local market to build two mega fire stations in San Jose.

The Superintendency of Securities has authorized the National Insurance Institute (INS) to create a securitization trust based on future flows to raise the necessary funds to build two mega fire stations for the fire department. The titles will be placed in the local market by the brokerage firm used by the INS.

Elian Villegas, CEO of INS said the investment will amount to ¢13,750 million ($25,652,027) and that there is great interest in the market. "... 'We have a lot of institutional investors interested in acquiring these titles, especially pension operators'. Emissions will be canceled within a period of five years by the Fire Department. Each insurer transfers per year, 4% of insurance premiums sold. "

Tender of Fire Stations for $10 million

The request for proposal documents are being prepared for the tender in March of construction of two mega fire stations in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Authorities from the Fire Department explained that one of the mega stations, la metropolitana, will be built in the neighborhood of Carmen, 200 meters south of the Caribbean bus station, in the former Traube brewery. The other station will be built opposite the José María Cañas park, in the Hospital district. The cost of the land was $15 million and $10 million will be allocated for construction.
