Trust Sought for Honduran Roadworks

The process of selecting a trustee bank has started in order to bring about the construction and maintenance of highways CA-4, CA-10 and CA-11, which require an investment of $245 million.

The Commission for Public-Private Partnerships (Coalianza), intends to form a public-private partnership to achieve the financing, construction, renovation, expansion, operation and maintenance of the road network in the departments of Cortes, Santa Barbara, Copan and Ocotepeque.

The plan includes the expansion and completion of 340 kilometers of roads in the West in two stages and sections. "The first stage includes the CA-4 in the west, which will run from Chamelecón in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, to La Entrada, Copan, the CA-4 in the west, from La Entrada to Santa Rosa de Copan, the CA- 11 from La Entrada to Copan Ruins and the CA-11 comprising from Copan Ruinas, to El Florido Copan on the border with Guatemala " reported

"... the second stage includes the CA-4 West that covers the section from Santa Rosa de Copan, to El Portillo, the CA-4 in the west ranging from El Portillo, to Neuva Ocotepeque and El Poy and CA-10 from the Neuva Ocotepeque, to the border of Agua Caliente ".

In Honduras the Continental Bank is to manage a trust fund of $270 million for the construction and maintenance of roads.

This was announced by José Antonio Pineda of the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnerships (Coalianza). He explained that five banks were involved in the process but Continental was the only one to bid.
