Transport and Manufacturing Boost the Economy

In Guatemala the economic activity reported the third month of the year a 2.7% year-on-year growth rate, mainly because of the behavior of the Transportation and Manufacturing Industries sector.

The 2.7% increase in economic activity reported by the Banco de Guatemala in the third month of the year, represents an acceleration since in February 2019 the variation was only 1.9%.

The report of the Central Bank states that "... The economic activity measured by the IMAE estimate in March 2019, showed a growth rate of 2.7% (1.8% in March 2018).

The described behavior was influenced by the growth shown by the following economic activities: Transportation, storage and communications; Manufacturing industries; Wholesale and retail trade; and Private services.

On the other hand, the cycle-trend series registered a 3.1% year-on-year growth rate, more dynamic than the observed in the same month of the previous year (2.8%).

Honduras: Economic Activity Up 3%

Mainly explained by the economic activity reported in the financial and manufacturing sectors, during March the IMAE in Honduras grew 3.2% with respect to the same month in 2017.

From the report of the Central Bank of Honduras:



During the first three months of 2019, the original IMAE series shows a 2.9% growth (3.0% in 2018); meanwhile, the trend series cycle2/ reached a 3.2% year-on-year rate (3.5% in March 2018).



Economic Activity Grows Less

April 2019

After recording in the first month of 2019 a 3.2% year-on-year increase in economic activity, in February of this year the IMAE closed with a 1.9% increase.

The economic activity measured by the estimation of the IMAE, in February 2019, showed a 1.9% growth rate (2.7% in February 2018).

Guatemala: Economic Activity Accelerates

February 2019

After recording at the end of 2017, a 2.6% year-on-year increase in economic activity, in December last year the IMAE closed a 3.3% increase.

The most recent figures estimated by the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat) specify that between November and December last year, economic activity registered a 5.7% increase.

Commercial Sector Dynamizes Economic Activity

January 2019

During November 2018, economic activity in Guatemala reported a 3.3% increase over the same month in 2017, mainly because of the performance of wholesale and retail trade.

From the Bank of Guatemala report:

The economic activity measured by the estimation of the IMAE in November 2018, showed a 3.4% growth rate (2.4% in November 2017).
