Traffic at Tocumen Keeps Increasing

At the close of 2012 the movement of passengers through the Tocumen International Airport exceeded 6 million.

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Total passenger traffic up to October reached 5.7 million, a million more than in the same period in 2011.

Given the natural increase in passenger arrivals in the months of November and December because of the year-end festivities, official projections suggest that the airport will have handled 6.8 million passengers by the end of the year.

The transfer of passengers remains the main business for Tocumen which up to October handled 2.6 million passengers.

About 550 thousand passengers go through Tocumen every month. With the construction of the new airport terminal it will have the capacity to handle 15 million passengers a year. Studies indicate that this volume of people will be reached between the years 2018 and 2020", reported the online newspaper.
