In Costa Rica, 2,220 grocery stores are reported to operate in different parts of the country, generating about $820 million in revenue, and 80% of their customers are located within a 1.5 kilometer radius.

Nacion.com reports that according to a study of the Fundes organization, in 2018 in Costa Rica there were 2,224 traditional grocery stores, and that most of the stores operate up to 14 hours a day and 80% of their customers live within a 1.5 kilometer radius of their location.

In Costa Rica, digital platforms have been developed that gather information from grocery stores in order for supplier companies to access updated data on the type of consumer being served at sales points and their demographic environment.

Regarding the profile of consumers in Costa Rica, figures from CentralAmericaData indicate that between 14% and 17% of people who move from one point of the GAM to another during the day do so in an area of 31 km2, limited to the West by the Parque de la Sabana, to the North by Tibás, to the East by San Pedro and to the South by the Parque de la Paz, and surrounding areas.

Auto Spare Parts: More Sales Points

In Guatemala, Excel Automotriz announced that it will launch four automotive parts stores, three of which will be in the metropolitan area and one in the department of Quetzaltenango.

The company announced that the sales points that will open in the metropolitan area will be in Roosevelt Road, Concepcion County and Pradera. The fourth store will be in the western part of the country, in the department of Quetzaltenango.

In response to the brake placed by the Commission for the Promotion of Competition on the purchase of Gessa by Walmart, in Costa Rica both companies presented two independent appeals that seek to revoke the blockade of the transaction.

Last week, the Commission for the Promotion of Competition (Coprocom) denied Walmart the purchase request of the supermarket group Gessa, and just days later, on December 10th, the two companies participating in the transaction filed two appeals to overturn the judgment.

Car Repair Workshops: Where are they Located?

In Costa Rica there are about 4,600 lubricant centers and auto mechanic workshops in operation, of which 24% are located in the cantons of San José, Alajuela and Cartago.
