Tourists in the Dominican Republic Spending More

In 2017, tourists stayed on average 8.6 nights and spent an average of $134 per day, which is an increase of 1% and 2%, respectively, from 2016.

From a Report by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic

Tourist Expenditure and Average Stay by Air:

Non-resident foreigners who visited the country, in the year 2017, recorded an average stay of 8.6 nights, representing growth of 0.8% and made an average daily expenditure of US $133.5, an increase of 2.2%, compared to 2016. 

Non-resident Dominicans, during their 15.6-night stay, spent on average US $840.7, which in percentage terms represented an increase of 1.1% over the previous year. Likewise, Dominican residents spent an average of US $920.7, which is 2.4% more, with an average stay of 11.6 nights.

Optimism for Tourism in 2019

During 2018, tourist arrivals to Guatemala reached 2.4 million and the year-on-year increase was 14%. By 2019, the number of visitors is expected to rise to 2.6 million, representing a 10% increase.

During the last year it was reported that the average stay of tourists was 10.5 days, which represents an increase of 11% compared to what was recorded in 2016.

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) reported that " ...Average daily per capita expenditure made by non-residents who arrived in the country was 44.9 dollars, which represents growth of 0.2 percent with respect to 2016. The biggest expense was reported by tourists from North and South America." 

Nicaragua: 2015 Tourism Figures

Average daily spending per tourist fell by 13.4% compared to 2014, with average stays registered of 17 days.

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) has published the annual results of inbound and outbound tourism, corresponding to 2015.

Nicaragua: Average Stay of Tourists Increases 18%

At the end of the fourth quarter of 2014 the average stay increased from 6.9 to 8.2 days from the previous quarter, but the average daily expenditure remained at $43.

The average stay for a tourist from South America is 8.6 days, while tourists from other regions reported 13.9 days on average. The average daily tourist expenditure during 2014 was $43.40, only $0.90 more than the amount reported in 2013.
