Tourist project moves forward in Bahía de Tela, Honduras

Works projects are about 15 percent completed on the tourist development of Bahía de Tela, on the Caribbean coast of Honduras.

So far the project managers have spent about five million dollars (98 million lempiras) on the mixed public-private project. Total cost is estimated to be 133 million dollars.
Bahía de Tela will have two five-star hotels each with 150 rooms, with an option of 40 condominiums, 250 residential villas, and an 18-hole golf course.
Investors estimate that it will create about 10,000 direct employees and will benefit 44,000 persons in the area.

Residential Project in the Honduran Caribbean

The Trujillo Beach Eco-Development has been announced, with an investment of $50 million in an 600 hectare area which will feature residences for Canadian and Israeli citizens, in the form of condominiums and a hotel.

To date 40% of the total planned cost has been invested, which is $50 million.

Honduras: More Investors in Tela Bay

Balboa Bank & Trust, will support the Micos Beach & Golf Resort tourism project providing a loan for $2.5 million.

Diana Villeda, chief financial officer of Tela Bay Tourist Development (DTBT in Spanish) announced that an amendment will be made to the syndicated loan agreement, integrating this contribution and bringing the total credit to $26 million.

Panama: Interest in Investing in Sherman Base

Several companies have shown interest in investing in the former military base in Sherman, Colon.

The Reverted Property Unit said that in September they will discuss the first concrete investment proposal which they have received.

"According to a study by the Spanish consultancy C4T Tourism Business & Planning, Sherman could register investment of nearly $180 million.

Hilton Will Operate 'Bahía de Tela' Touristic Project

August 2009

In November, the Honduran Tourism Institute will hand the completed infrastructure of the public-private venture.

With a $15 million investment, Honduras government developed the project's infrastructure, including paving, water supply, sewerage and the sanitation system.
