Tourist growth in Panama defies economic trends

Panama continues to grow as a tourist destination despite the economic slowdown in Europe and elsewhere.

July and August are the biggest months for tourist travel from Europe. This year, summer vacation spots face an economic slowdown, especially in Spain, which is the biggest source of tourists for Panama and Central America.
Cutbacks in consumption, increased unemployment, and higher prices all suggest a fall in the number of European arrivals in Panama.
However Cristina González Trujillos, a representative for Mexico and Central America for Spain-based Viva Tours, says, "We are happy with the level of demand for Panama. It has gone up by 45 percent compared with last summer and it's still not over."

More Charter Flights to Nicaragua

It has been announced that the Canadian airline Air Transat made 28 flights from Montreal and Toronto between December 2016 and March 2017.

The Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) told Elnuevodiario.com.ni  that "... flights will start arriving from 19 December and will continue until March 2017. Tourists will mainly vacation in a beach hotel on the Nicaraguan Pacific."
