Tourist Spending Up in Panama

In the first six months of the year tourists spent $582.1 million, $64 million more than the same period in 2009.

In both 2009 and 2010 the most productive months were January and March.

"These figures make Panama one of the countries with most tourist spending in Central America, according to the Tourism Authority," reports Laestrella.com.pa. "An average of 13,283 visitors now pass through Tocumen Airport every 24 hours".

Tourism Grows in Panama

The influx of tourists in the first two months of the year increased by 5.7% with the entry of 429,073 visitors.

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) reported that in early 2012, some 429,073 visitors entered the country, 23,145 more people than in the same period last year, which is a growth of 5.7%.

Tourism grows 10% in Costa Rica this year

At the close of 2008, tourism activities will have left the country with more than $2 billion in earnings.

This figure exceeds the amount obtained from foreign visitors to Costa Rica during 2007 by almost 10% (some $171 million more). The projections were made despite negative news from the sector.
