Among the plans for the development program FOMILENIO II using funds from the U.S., the National Institute of Tourism is promoting the creation of tourist development as part of a strategy that aims to increase tourist visits and create more jobs for the sector.

Places like El Puerto de La Libertad, Los Planes de Renderos, el Cerro Verde and El Icacal beach are the sites that have been chosen for future development areas, said the minister, Napoleon Duarte.

According to Laprensagrafica.com.ni, at the Port of La Libertad a seafood place will be built in order to help turn the area into an international tourist destination. Regarding Los Planes de Renderos, the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) revealed that there is a project to reengineer the three parks, focussing on ecotourism, gastronomy and culture. For the development of Cerro Verde and Icacal beach the public-private partnership model has been chosen, Duarte said.
