The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) reported that among the projects with private investment are works located in the Ruta de las Flores with an approximate investment of $6.27 million, in El Tunco beach with $3.8 million, in Boquerón $1.36 million and in the Ruta Fresca $1.8 million.

Regarding public investments, the vice minister of Tourism, Roberto Viera, said that "... MITUR figures indicate that public investment in tourism was $12.6 million. One of the most outstanding projects is Plaza Marinera, which is currently being built with a $5.5 million investment."

The Minister of Tourism, José Napoleón Duarte Durán, explained to Laprensagrafica.com that the amount spent on investments in tourism projects during 2018 is a "... preliminary data, because it is the first time we remove it. For me this is an excellent indicator because the tourism sector is developing a very positive scheme."

Tourism: Optimistic Outlook for 2019

After reporting a 16% year-on-year increase in revenues generated by this sector in El Salvador in 2018, a 13% growth is expected for this year.

According to authorities of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) for this year is expected that more than 2.6 million tourists visit El Salvador, representing a 6.2% increase over what was reported in 2018.

Construction of the tourist center authorized

The Salvadoran government approved the construction of Plaza Marinera, which will have a 10,000 m2 area and will be in La Libertad Port.

The El Salvador Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) reported that Plaza Marinera will be built within a year and the work will require an investment of approximately $5.6 million.
