From a statement issued by the Tourism Authority of Panama:

The Tourism Authority and 9 companies certified with the seal of quality, which presented Panama as a modern country, with excellent infrastructure for congresses and conventions, air connectivity and tourist sites, managed to arrange more than 200 appointments, during the three days of exposition and business negotiations, at the Travel Fair in the province of Guangzhou, China.

The greatest interest in Panama was concentrated, on the part of the buyers, in seeing the Canal, and historical sites such as the monumental package of Panama Viejo, Casco Antiguo in the Capital City, protected areas, national parks, indigenous culture and folklore.

Sharon Arosemena, executive from the travel agency Xplora Wholesaler Operator, noted that she managed to make an appointment with "Dista Group", one of the largest wholesale agencies in southern China, with the capacity to mobilize some 20,000 people per month. Currently, this agency sells tourism products from Cuba and Costa Rica, but this year it wants to include destinations on the Panamanian isthmus in its promotional packages."They - Dista Group - see that Panama has a lot of potential," she said.

Air connectivity, visas, category in hotel infrastructure and services were the queries posed by Chinese buyers to the tour operator at the company Cactustour, Oliver Bernard. "Panama, for residents in these latitudes, is presented as a "novel and fascinating" product; but they also expect quality in everything the country offers, because now we are a destination."

He indicated that on the first day of the fair, he spoke with 6 important tour operators who serve groups of 25 and 40 people with high purchasing power, so they suggested as a priority accomodation in a five-star hotel.
