Three Offers for Honduran Bridge Projects

On May 6 the offers will be opened for the project to build the La Democracia and Humuya bridges.

The companies Sermaco, Condelta and Prodecon have submitted bids for the bridge construction contract and the winner will need to invest around $12 million for one bridge alone.

The project is to be delivered by way of a 'turn-key' public-private partnership (PPP) program and expects to recover the investment by charging bridge users over a period of 10 years.

Construction of Bridge Over San Juan River Starts

With an investment of $30 million, construction has begun on the 360 meter bridge which connects Nicaragua to Costa Rica by road.

A press release from El Pueblo Presidente reads:

The 360-meter bridge over the Rio San Juan connects Nicaragua to Costa Rica. Construction of the bridge has begun and is being managed by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Only One Bid for Construction of Bridges in Honduras

Of the three companies that had expressed interest in the bidding process, only Condelta submitted its offer.

The mayor of El Progreso, Alexander Lopez, in the act of opening the bids stated,".. that the conditions (of the tender) state that when only one company presents an offer there is enough basis to grant legal permission to run the project, therefore the company responsible for the works is Condelta." Reported an article in Laprensa.hn

Costa Rica Launches $ 4 Million Tender For Reconstruction of Bridges

The National Emergency Commission invited companies to bid for the reconstruction of 11 bridges in the province of Limón.

Preliminary studies and design of the bridges was done by the Department of Bridges, Public Works and Transportation, an entity that in turn will be the Executing Unit of the works which are performed by the Division of Public Works.

Nicaragua: $ 20 million for Infrastructure

The funds donated by the Japanese government will cover construction of three bridges in the south Caribbean of Nicaragua.

The non-reimbursable cooperation agreement was signed by the Nicaraguan Minister of Transport, Fernando Martinez and the Ambassador of Japan in Managua, Jiro Shibasaki.
