The Coffee Cup Expands in Costa Rica

Salvadoran coffee chain 'The Coffee Cup' opened its second store in the country.

The chain plans to open an additional store in San José International Airport in 2010.

"Next year the brand will start operations in Austin, Texas, in the United States. This store will open in February 2010, marking a milestone for the company, which had targeted the U.S. market for 17 years", reported Elsalvador.com.

Starbucks in Costa Rica

Next May the U.S. chain will open its first store in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The announcement was made via a press release from the Pan American Coffee Corporation, a company that promotes Salvadoran coffee shops across the Isthmus.

Nacion.com reported quoted Manuela Velasquez, Starbucks marketing manager for Central America: "Our main goal is to bring the Starbucks experience to Costa Ricans.

The Salvadoran franchise opened its first store in Austin, Texas, USA.

The company invested $ 400,000 in its first store and expects to open 10 more next year.

Laprensagrafica.com reported comments by Samuel Quiros, president of Quality Grains and owner of The Coffee Cup, "The Coffee Cup chain stores are supplied with 100% Salvadoran coffee. The coffee will be sold in stores and will be exported toasted from El Salvador".

Britt Opens Stores in Mexico

The company invested $3 million to open 8 stores in the airport of the Mexican Federal District.

Pablo Vargas, Britt’s CEO, explained that the 8 points of sale have been built in a 320 square meter area.

“This airport features a very interesting market, as 4 million passengers visit it every year, twice as much as in Costa Rica”, said Vargas.

Quality coffee from El Salvador enters Costa Rica

The Coffee Cup, a gourmet coffee brand from El Salvador, opened the first of nine stores in the city of Grecia.

Elfinancierocr.com reports: "The salvadoran entrepreneur indicated that the contract with the costa rican company Coffe and Talk includes opening nine additional stores in different locations of Costa Rica, and the investment for each of them will be between $125.000 and $150.000, depending on location and size."
