The Vehicle Market in Central America

As of June 2017, 36% of automobile or sedan-type vehicles that circulated in countries in the region were of the Toyota and Hyundai brands.

Data from the report "Vehicle Fleet in Central America 2017" compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData shows different characteristics of the vehicles circulating in Central American countries.

At least 45% of the total number of automobile vehicles that circulated in Central America at the end of the first semester of 2017 corresponded the brands Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan.

The composition by model of the Central American automobile fleet, shows that the units Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent and Nissan Sentra, together make up approximately 12% of the total fleet.

When analyzing the car fleet figures by country, it can be seen that in Costa Rica at least 26% of units are of the Hyundai and Kia brands, in Guatemala 21% are Mazda and Mitsubishi, in El Salvador 22% are Nissan and Honda, in Honduras 32% are Toyota and Ford, and in Nicaragua 35% are Hyundai and Suzuki.
