Tender to Modernize La Aurora Canceled

A tender for a feasibility study to modernize Guatemala City airport was annulled because of alleged non conformities, and will be convened anew.

Friday, February 24, 2017

The process was canceled by the National Competitiveness Program (Pronacom), and although no specific details are recorded on the Guatecompras website, a series of non conformity issues raised by some of the participating companies may be the reason for the decision to cancel. See details of the tender.

"...In December there were eight offers, five were approved in the technical phase and were chosen for the opening of their economic proposals, but disagreements arose."  LG-AFI Group, from Spain, Rios Ferrer from Mexico, and Copenhagen Aiport Arena, from Denmark, are three of the eight participating companies.

Prensalibre.com reports that "...It was hoped that studies would start in the first months of 2017 and in the second half of the year a tender would be announced for the renovation work, for which $200 million is needed. There will be a new competition but no date has yet been specified. It will be 'in the shortest possible time according to the rules and procedures', said sources at Pronacom."
