Tender of Fire Stations for $10 million

The request for proposal documents are being prepared for the tender in March of construction of two mega fire stations in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Monday, January 30, 2017

Authorities from the Fire Department explained that one of the mega stations, la metropolitana, will be built in the neighborhood of Carmen, 200 meters south of the Caribbean bus station, in the former Traube brewery. The other station will be built opposite the José María Cañas park, in the Hospital district. The cost of the land was $15 million and $10 million will be allocated for construction.

Walter Chacon Morales, a Fire engineer, told Nacion.com that "...In both places the current property will be demolished to build stations based on the seismic code requirements. He added that the buildings will have room for ten or more large machines, parking lots and bedrooms for 80 firefighters and not 20, as the current headquarters have."

Funds for the project were obtained through the issuance of securities in the local market.  See: "Trust to build fire stations."
