Panama's State Radio and Television System is tendering the service of two thousand hours of satellite time space for live transmissions.

"In order to cover in an efficient and dynamic way all the news coverage of the country, as well as important events of the State; the State Radio and Television System, uses a new satellite transmission system "Fly - Away" which guarantees us a good performance in live and direct transmission, from any point of the country.

The Contractor must comply with the following technical specifications:
 
1. Bandwidth: minimum 4.5 MHz and availability up to 6 MHz
2. Reception and transmission: C-band
3. Availability of space: in the required time
4. Transmission form: linear
5. Availability of coverage: in North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean, for simultaneous use on the same Transponder (TP).
6. Availability of coverage in Europe, Asia and Africa if required by SERW with prior notice.
7. It must have a permanent segment and a fixed frequency for the transmissions of the Institution."

Deadline for receipt of tenders: January 28, 2020.

Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports: "According to the Nicaraguan authorities, the satellite intends to provide cell phone services, cable television, internet and data services and eventually provide coverage for other Central American countries."

Nicaragua Announces Purchase of Chinese Satellite

The Government of Nicaragua is negotiating with a Chinese company to buy a $300 million satellite, whose installation will begin in March 2013 and will be completed in 2016.

The purchase and subsequent installation of the satellite will help reduce the cost of cellular services, expand internet to rural areas and provide a system for monitoring and natural disaster prevention.
