Tender for Pharmacy Service

In Costa Rica, the National Insurance Institute tenders the pharmacy service for the management of external lines, under the delivery on demand modality.

Costa Rica Government Purchase 2020PP-000015-0001000001:

"The National Insurance Institute requires contracting the services, according to demand, of a legal entity to provide professional services in private pharmacy to fill external prescriptions, prescribed to patients covered by the commercial regimes and insurance administered by the National Insurance Institute.

These are understood to be pharmaceutical services:
-Dispensation and delivery of products of health interest (medicines, biomedical equipment and material, cosmetics, among others) in authorized pharmaceutical establishments.
-Delivery of injectable medicines in pharmaceutical establishments.
-Pharmaceutical care service for people covered by the regimes administered by the National Insurance Institute.
-Other activities related to the profession/service."

Deadline for receipt of tenders: May 4, 2020.

Figures from the College of Pharmacists of Costa Rica (Colfar) detail that 1,169 establishments dedicated to the sale of pharmaceutical products are reported throughout the country, of which 671 are independent businesses and 498 are points of sale of some chain of pharmacies.
