Tender for Environmental Study for Port Terminal

Empresa Portuaria Quetzal is putting out to tender the evaluation and diagnostic work on the environmental management of activities at the maritime terminal.

Guatemala Government Purchase 8344043:

"Requirements are for the identification and description of all of Empresa Portuaria Quetzal's activities that take place within the port area. Creating abiotic, biotic and baseline socioeconomic studies within the port farm and its area of influence.

Each of the activities that Empresa Portuaria Quetzal performs in the port area must be described, including: The physical definition of the area, machinery, basic services (water, sources and treatment), stormwater and wastewater drainage and its treatment systems, the management of ordinary and special waste and solid waste. Energy and the environmental management system in general. Access roads, transportation, medical clinic, laboratories, labor and its origin; the system of prevention and reaction to an emergency and contingency and the occupational health and safety program based on the existing risks."

The deadline for receipt of bids is September 12, 2018.

Improvements in Puerto Santo Tomás Announced

Authorities at the Guatemalan port terminal announced that they have solved the container congestion problem reported weeks ago, and have started working on a reengineering process.

Empresa Portuaria Nacional Santo Tomás de Castilla (Empornac) reported that after implementing a series of actions of a logistical nature, they have managed to solve the problem of container saturation in that area, and their operations remain stable.

Tender for Works at Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala

Empresa Portuaria Quetzal is putting out to tender improvement works on a Dolphin type pier located in the Cruise Terminal of Puerto Quetzal.

The current deterioration of the Dolphin type pier, located at the cruise terminal in the western basin of Puerto Quetzal, is putting its infrastructure at risk of collapse, resulting in difficulties in service cruise ships and exposure to sanctions for non-compliance with international standards.
