Tender for Airport Waiting Rooms

The Autonomous Port Executive Committee of El Salvador has announced that in May it will be putting out to tender construction of four new lounges in San Salvador International Airport.

Monday, April 13, 2015

It is anticipated that the waiting rooms will have capacity for 400 passengers per day and will be financed with funds from a securitization that the Executive Port Commission (CEPA) held in February 2013. This project is considered the first phase of the airport expansion in the country.

Laprensagrafica.com reported that "... The first phase of the expansion of the passenger terminal should have started in 2014 and be completed in 2017. According to Kimley-Horn, the firm that prepared the proposal, this is the phase in which the airport would suffer the most changes. Among the projects proposed in the plan are widening the terminal by 10 meters in the section behind the counters currently used by airlines for checking in passengers, on the first floor. "

"... Was also expected to build new escalators and a dividing passenger flows so that those arriving do not mix with those departing. Outside the building a plaza would be built with gardens for visitors from the airport and a viewpoint on four levels where the employees parking lot is today. The first level will still be used for parking, while levels two and three will have restaurants and a children's play area, and on the fourth a lookout point. "
