Tender for $6 Million in Bridge Rehabilitation

Costa Rica's National Road Council is tendering the rehabilitation works of the bridge over the Barranca River, on National Route No. 23.

"The rehabilitation or strengthening, will be based on the following activities:

- Replacement of the superstructure plate.
- Reinforcement of the main beams by means of external pre-strengthening cables.
- Replacement of neoprene supports of the main beams.
- Reinforcement of the superstructure-substructure connection.
- Construction of seismic stops.
- Replacement of expansion joints.
- Reinforcement of the pile foundation plates by widening the foundation plates and placing additional piles.
- Reinforcement of pile columns 2 and 3 with concrete overburden and additional steel reinforcement.
- Reinforcement of the bastions by constructing concrete shields anchored to the bastion with pre-stressing cables.

The structure to be rehabilitated is located in the Province: Puntarenas; Cantons: Puntarenas and Esparza, Districts: El Roble and Caldera, respectively; on National Route No. 23. The coordinates in the geographic system are: 09º57'34 "N latitude and 84º44'38 "W longitude."

Reference value: $5,506,512.

Deadline for receipt of bids: July 23, 2020.

After canceling the tender held in June, the Morales administration has resumed the tender for the renovation and maintenance of the vehicular bridge in Guatemala.

Guatemala Government Purchase 6623514:

"The works for the renovation of the 240 meter long bridge, consist of repairing the railing, including cleaning and painting, replacement of the road surface, renovation of the concrete slab of the superstructure where necessary, renovation of expansion joints, construction of approach slabs, cleaning, painting, replacement of supports in the buttresses (if necessary), in addition to the development of preliminary studies that allow, in conjunction with the studies already carried out, for a proposal to be presented for repair and reinforcement of structural, non-structural, passive safety and structural monitoring elements.

A Single Offer to Repair Belize Bridge

The construction company Architrac was the only company to present a proposal in the tender to renovate the vehicular bridge in Guatemala.

The act of receiving offers was originally scheduled for May 18, but was postponed to May 31 after no proposals were received. Now only the company Architrac participated in the tender to renovate the bridge, with an offer for $4.6 million (36 million quetzales).

Tender for Renovation of Belice Bridge Postponed

Since no proposals were received, the government has decided to extend until May 31st the receipt of offers in the tender to improve the Belize bridge in Guatemala.

The project, for which no offers were received, consists of repairing the railing including cleaning and painting, renovation of sidewalks, replacement of the road surface, renovation of the concrete slab of the superstructure, renovation of expansion joints, construction of approach slabs, non-destructive tests on structure and concrete elements, replacement of supports in the buttresses, provision, installation and commissioning of two scales for dynamic weighing or WIM (Weighing in Motion) weighing and renovation of the fixed scale located at km 14.5 of the road CA-09 Norte, according to the tender documents. 

Panama: $75 Million for Bridge of the Americas Repairs

May 2010

Authorities are taking bids for rehabilitating the sub and superstructure of the Bridge of the Americas in Panama.

The project comprises replacing the concrete slab and floor beams, rehabilitating the metal structure of the bow and the rest of the superstructure and substructure, plus painting the bridge.
