Tender: Recreational Park for $36 million

The Ministry of the Presidency in Panama is putting out to tender the study, design, construction and equipping of a recreation park in the village San Francisco, province of Panama.

Panama Government Purchase 2016-0-03-0-08-LV-024 088:

"The project is for the study, design, construction, and equipping of the Omar Recreational Park in the District of San Francisco, District of Panama, Republic of Panama.

When making their design the Contractor must take into account the topography and existing trees in order to try to have minimal impact on the area.

Currently the concrete footprint for the park is approximately 24.5% of the total area of Parque Omar, the increase in the concrete footprint of the park could increase by up to 12% maximum.

The Contractor agrees, without being limited to, supplying all labor, management, materials, energy, lighting, fuel, water, tools, instruments, equipment, supplies and other construction items necessary for the execution, completion and operation of the work, as requested in the request for proposals document; they must obtain and pay for all permits and construction methods used in order to ensure the rapid and satisfactory completion of the work, ensuring the safety of life and property. The Contractor will choose the suppliers and the country of origin corresponding to the Equipment and Materials for each item in accordance with the bid submitted within the Tender."

All work must present the basic design and details necessary for the full and correct implementation as described in the technical specifications and policies, under the rules of construction of the Ministry of the Presidency, the IDAAN, the MOP, the Ministry of Health and other government institutions that regulate the implementation of this type of project."

$36 million Tender for Recreational Park Canceled

January 2017

The Panamanian government has decided to cancel the project to build a park in San Francisco, Panama City, after several civic groups opposed the move.

In the resolution published on 16 January by the Ministry of the Presidency, notice of cancellation was given for the tender which consisted of the design, construction and equipment of Recreational Park Omar, in the district of San Francisco, Panama.
