Tender: Ambulances for $24 million

The Social Security Fund in Panama is putting out to tender the lease-purchase of 97 ambulances, including preventive and corrective maintenance and replacement units for a period of 48 months.

Panama Government Purchase 2016-1-10-0-08-LV-187 838:

"Service of Lease with option to purchase, of ninety-seven (97) Ambulances including preventive and corrective maintenance and replacement units, appropriately equipped for the Attention of insured and uninsured patients (areas of agreement) of the Social Security for a period of forty-eight (48) consecutive months.

Some features and technical specifications of the vehicles:

-Vehicle this year or next year
-Engine power should be between 100-350 horsepower
-Motor Diesel electronic injection 4-6 cylinders.
-Traction Minimum manual 5-forward speeds and 1 reverse
-Two doors on the driver's cab
-The roof of the vehicle must be in one piece without perforations or joints, guaranteeing a certified seal. "

Reference value: $24 million

Deadline for receipt of bids: 1 April 2016.

Panama government spends US$18 million on automobiles

May 2008

Over the last 12 months, Panama's state institutions have spent a total of US$18 million on purchases of automobiles and buses through the PanamaCompra website.

But Edilberto Ruiz, director of public contracts said that the amount only seemed high because the purchases are bundled together now on the website. Previously each government department bought vehicles separately and no total figure was published, Ruiz said.
