Guatemala and Costa Rica, the main importers
In the first nine months of 2018, the main importer in Central America was Guatemala, with $100 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $63 million, Honduras, with $62 million, El Salvador, with $50 million, Panama, with $44 million and Nicaragua, with $16 million.

Business Increases in Central America
Between January and September 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported into the region grew 19%, from $282 million to $335 million. For the periods concerned, purchases from Mexico grew 26%, from $125 million to $158 million.

Mexican companies, the most important suppliers
From January to September 2018, 47% of the value imported into the region was from Mexico, 25% from China, 16% from the U.S. and 1% from Colombia.

China is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most for the period concerned in the last seven years, since in 2012 represented 11% of the total value purchased, and in 2018 increased to 25%.
