Telecommunications: $1 Billion Investment Announced

According to America Movil executives, which owns the Claro Dominicana brand, the Caribbean country is one of the markets where the company has experienced the highest growth in data consumption per user.

Regarding the growth of the company's business in the country, America Movil's CEO, Daniel Hajj Aboumrad, said to that the expansion "... has been boosted by the data plans and the devices offers launched by Claro Dominicana, which have resulted in a high penetration of smartphones, which exceeds 70% of its total mobile customer portfolio."

Aboumrad added that "... to sustain this growth and prepare ourselves for the challenges of technological evolution towards 5G, as well as the development of new applications in the hyper-connectivity era and the Internet of Things, we will invest in the country more than 1,000 million dollars in the next three years".
