Taiwan Trade Mission in El Salvador

An Asian trade mission is to come to El Salvador, with an eye toward potential business in machinery, beauty products, jewelry, construction materials, plastics and textiles.

Some 16 Taiwanese companies will arrive in El Salvador next week, with the aim of making deals with local companies. The visit will take place from 11 to 13 March, according to the Office of the Economic Counselor for the Chinese/Taiwanese Embassy.

"The ministry counselor, Andres C.Y. Liu, said the visiting companies come from the sectors of machinery, beauty products, jewelry, construction materials, plastics and textiles," states an article on ElSalvador.com. "Businessmen will also arrive from companies who sell raw materials for the manufacture of footwear, handbags, furniture, LED lighting and electronic products (computers, phones, Mp3, Mp4, games and security cameras, etc)."

Taiwan's exports to El Salvador in 2011 reached $141 million, a increase compared with the $87.4 million in 2010. Last year, El Salvador exported $33.3 million worth of goods to Taiwan, according to information from the Central Reserve Bank.
