Nicaragua was one of the countries that received a mission of business people and government officials from Taiwan, who visited the region earlier this month to promote their products.

In three hours, ten technology companies completed 60 rounds negotiations with Nicaraguan buyers, receiving orders for about $200,000. The negotiations also resulted in more business opportunities worth $1 million for Taiwanese suppliers in the next year.

The fair attracted over 150 visitors, including government representatives, businessmen and academics from 15 universities in Nicaragua.

An article in focustaiwan.tw notes: "Jose Adan Aguerri, chairman of the Chamber of private companies in Nicaragua, said that "the Nicaraguan government should emulate the experience of Taiwan, giving people access to technology and education and in this way, get out of poverty. "
