Taco Bell Returns to Panama

Next June 15, Franquicias Panameñas will open the first Panamanian Taco Bell fast food restaurant franchise in Multiplaza Mall.

Besides the store in Multiplaza, the US franchise will open restaurants in El Dorado, Albrook, Metro and Villa Lucre shopping malls, among others.

According to what digital.com.pa reported, the Taco Bell brand was previously in Panama under another administrator.

"Franquicias Panameñas is the company that brings together KFC, Pizza Hut and Quiznos fast food restaurant brands."

Franchises Booming in Panama

Not only fast food franchises are growing, but also hospitality ones.

For example, during the first six months of 2013, seven Friday's restaurants, established in the country and run by the local group UNESA, recorded revenues of $9 million. While Chili's and Buffalo Wild Wings open their first branches in Costa Rica, the established Applebee's, Subway, Quizno's, McDonald's, KFC and Teriyaki have increased their investments.

Before the end of the year, Hooters will open its fourth restaurant on Paseo Metropolis, in Cartago, east of San José, with an investment of $1 million.

The franchise company QSR International is to open 15 new stores during 2012, and invest in the remodeling and reopening of three others.

QSR International, which owns the fast-food franchise KFC and Quizno's Sub in the region, will open 8 new KFC restaurants and 7 new Quizno's outlets in Costa Rica.
