Summit: Businessmen ask for improvements and changes

Infrastructure deficiencies, lack of investments in renewable energy and uncertainty are some of the worries of entrepreneurs. This reduces competitiveness and the attraction of investment, they say.

The demands were presented by a group of businessmen that participated in the Second Competitiveness Summit (FCA) that was celebrated in Atlanta, United States.
Emmanuel Seidner pointed out that governments cannot carry out most of their development plans without help from the private sector, and specifically asked that public projects by public and private sector alliances in Guatemala be expedited and that more investment in renewable energy be attracted to the country to help bring down the price of electricity.

VII Competitiveness Forum of the Americas

From 2 to 4 October the VII Forum on Competitiveness in the Americas will be held in Panama, where the hemisphere's leading authorities in the field of economy, trade and industry will gather together.

Panama will host the VII Competitiveness Forum of the Americas, which brings together representatives that make up the Inter-American Competitiveness Network and the hemisphere's leading authorities in the field of economy, trade and industry, to be held in the month of October.

VI Competitiveness Forum in Panama

October 2011

The National Competitiveness Center will hold for the sixth consecutive year, the National Competitiveness Forum, on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th October at the Hotel Inter Continental Playa Bonita.

In the opening ceremony, on October 27th , the keynote speech will be given by Luis Alberto Moreno, chief executive of Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

V National Competitiveness Forum in Panama

October 2010

Organized by the National Competitiveness Center the forum will take place on the 18th and 19th October.

The forum is a tool to create a scenario of convergence for public and private sectors in order to build partnerships and promote actions to increase competitiveness.

Panama to host competition forums

May 2008

Panama is preparing to host the Latin American and Ibero-American competition forums.

The forums, which are to be coordinated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), are to be held from September 10 through 12, said Pedro Meilán, who heads Panama's watchdog on competition and consumer affairs.
