Stimulus for Panamanian Industry

Ricardo Martinelli's administration will write a law supporting and stimulating industry and agribusiness.

The new regulation will foster economic activity in these sectors, and will be based on the derogated 11th Industrial Stimulus Law.

It was announced during a meeting between Ricardo Martinelli and industry spokespersons.

Martinelli is also expected to hold a meeting next Monday 27 with members of the National Council of the Private Enterprise, known as CONEP for its Spanish initials.

Concession Adjustments Nullified in Panama

The bill nullifies the validity of the modification arrangements or equivalents for the concession contracts authorized by the state over the last decade.

Martinelli’s administration will present its first bill to the National Assembly of Panama, which, in addition to nullifying adjustments to the concession contracts, includes “that companies cannot fall more than three months behind on their royalty payments.

Professional Nicaraguans against the Law of Professional Association

April 2008

Different fields of professionals have entered a Resource of Unconstitutionality against Law 588, the "General law of Professional Associations and Professional Practice." The law was approved by the National Assemblyand passed on Jan. 14.

The plaintiffs are asking the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice to declare the law unconstitutional.
