Steel Bridge: $8 Million Tender

The National Roads Council of Costa Rica tenders the construction, supply and installation of a galvanized steel truss bridge over the Rio General, on National Route 321.

Costa Rica Government Purchase 2018LN-000003-0006000001:

"The purpose is to contract a construction company in road works, for a new two-way bridge over the Rio General at km 2.775 of National Route No. 321, designed for live load HL-93 equivalent to a three-axle tractor-trailer weighing 41 tons.

To accomplish this object, the contractor shall construct the Superstructure involving the supply and installation of a Waagner Biro Manufacturer truss or similar, galvanized steel truss of a single span of 121.50 (one hundred twenty-one point fifty) meters in length between supports (27 (twenty-seven) modules of 4.50 (four point fifty) meters each), construction of a reinforced concrete slab cast on site of 8,05 (eight point zero five) meters wide by 0.20 (zero point twenty) meters thick, with kerbs of 0.35 (zero point thirty-five) meters by 0.20 (zero point twenty) meters high, which allows with a roadway width of 7.35 (seven point thirty-five) meters to place an asphalt folder of 0.05 (zero point five) meters thick, with the installation of 2 (two) vehicular railings. The steel structure must have a sidewalk of 1.50 (one comma fifty) meters wide, with their respective pedestrian railings and steel floor that is attached externally to the truss. The weight of Waagner Biro's modular launchable steel structure considered in the design is 484.50 (four hundred and eighty-four comma fifty) tons (without the concrete slab, nor the asphalt layer). The weight of the Tip and the launching equipment is 244.07 (two hundred and forty-four comma zero seven) tons.

The substructure construction involves the construction of 2 (two) reinforced concrete Wall bastions 12.00 (twelve) meters wide, with heights of 8.80 (eight point eighty) meters and 12.00 (twelve) meters respectively for the Bastion with Fixed Support on the right side and for the Bastion with Mobile Support on the left side."
