Behavior of regional imports 
Between January 2012 and September 2016, the months that registered the highest monthly import values were May and October 2012, when the region as a whole bought $13.9 million worth of light-duty tires, while the month with the the lowest data was September 2013, with $8.9 million.

The import value in the first nine months of each year compared to the same period in previous years decreased by 2% in 2013, 8% in 2014, in 2015 the trend changed and grew by 5%, declining again in 2016, by 4%.

Imports by country  
In the first nine months of 2016, the main importers of light-duty tires in Central America were Panama and Guatemala with $25 million each, followed by Costa Rica with $18 million, El Salvador with $11 million, Honduras with $10 million and Nicaragua, With $7 million.

Origin of imports 
During the first three quarters of 2016, 40% of the value of imports made from Central America came from China, 9% from South Korea, 6% from Thailand, 6% from Japan and 5% from Mexico.
