Spanish Trade Mission in Guatemala

As of March 7th representatives from 21 companies in Spain will be visiting the country to discuss investment opportunities with Guatemalan businessmen.

Infrastructure, communications and renewable energy are the main sectors of interest to Spanish investors. However, it is expected that this visit will also reveal possibilities for investment in projects related to transport and tourism. During 2014, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $400 million, 30% more than in 2013.

Rodrigo Tilve, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Spain, told that "... Guatemala is becoming an interesting destination for Spanish investment, because it is a country that can be considered emerging, because in terms of trade a positive effect is being felt from the entry into force of the Association Agreement with Europe.
