Soft loans for small businesses in Honduras

The Honduras Board of Private Enterprise has 150,000 dollars available for lending at an annual rate of 4.5 percent.

The funds come from the Government of Taiwan. They are part of a program that began in 2003 and which, up to June 30, 2008 has provided small business loans totalling 1,110,625 dollars.
"If credit requests increase, the funds could increase," said Israel Castañeda, an official with the private enterprise board.
The funds will be directed to three sectors: agriculture, shoe manufacturing, and wood processing, in amounts ranging from 500 to 7,000 dollars.

On Tuesday, October 22, in facilities of the Salvadoran Association of Industrialists (ASI) and in order to meet the financing needs for the development of projects for small-scale Renewable Energy generation, the Development Bank of El Salvador Bandesal in coordination with the National Energy Council (CNE) and ASI through the Unity Energy Facilitator with Renewable Resources (UFERR) presented to project developers the requirements and guarantees needed for financing projects which have sales contracts for long-term power.

Honduras: Atlántida Bank Expands “Green” Loans

The entity has received a $20 million IDB loan to expand its loan portfolio to operations with environmental sustainability.

The Inter-American Development Bank today announced the approval of a "green" facility with $30 million going to Banco Atlantida in Honduras to support lending to environmentally sustainable projects.

The IIC and Café Britt Costa Rica S.A. sign an agreement for a loan of up to US$4 million

The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) signed a loan agreement for up to US$4 million with Café Britt Costa Rica S.A., a subsidiary of Grupo Britt, N.V.

This IIC loan will provide Café Britt S.A. with appropriate permanent working capital financing that will help it plan its operating funding requirements at the regional level.

Honduras: $158 Million for Construction

May 2009

Private banking requested $158 million from the Honduran Production and Housing Bank to boost the construction sector and generate jobs.

The requested funds are part of a trust worth $529 million that the Honduran Production and Housing Bank (BNHPROVI) has in order to stimulate the economy.
