Slaughter of Cattle Up 6%

Between the first two months of 2018 and the same period in 2019 the number of cattle slaughtered in Panama increased 6%, while the slaughter of pigs decreased 5%.

The most recent data from the General Comptroller of the Republic of Panama detail that in the first two months of the year 55,274 head of cattle were slaughtered, a figure higher than the 296,703 reported in the same period of 2018.

The report explains that in the case of pigs, the heads slaughtered for the periods concerned decreased 5% from 83,862 to 80,023. Detailed statistics show that the number of pigs classified by males and females reported declines in both cases, registering 4% and 6% respectively.

Regarding the year on year variations reported in February 2019, there was an 8% increase in the number of cattle slaughtered, and no relevant changes were reported in the slaughter of pigs.

The most recent data from the General Comptroller's Office of the Republic of Panama detail that in the first six months of the year 163,899 head of cattle were slaughtered, a figure higher than the 159,466 reported in the same period of 2018.

Between the first quarter of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the number of cattle slaughtered in Panama increased 6%, while the slaughter of pigs decreased 7%.
