Six Companies Interested in Building Children's Hospital

Consorcio FCC Américas, Consorcio Posco - Samsung and China Cams Engineering, are three of the six companies seeking to participate in the prequalification process to build the hospital, estimated at $281 million.

Companies interested in participating in the prequalification act are Consorcio Hospital del Niño (Portugal), FCC Americas Consortium Hospital del Niño (Spain), Consortium Posco - Samsumg (Korea), China Cams Engineering Co. Ltd. (China), Consorcio Hospital ChQC Panamá (China) and Acciona Construcción, SA (Spain).

For his part, the Ministry of Health's (Minsa) advisor on infrastructure issues, Gabriel Cedeño, explained to that the documents presented " ... will go to a verifying committee at the Minsa, which has already been formed, to ensure who complies with the legal aspects and the required experience."

Cedeño added that " ... the consortia that comply with the prequalification will be invited to participate in the public act. Last week, the Minsa presented an environmental impact study for the project, whose cost is estimated at $281.2 million."

According to the documentation for the prequalification, the work will consist of the construction of the "Torre del Hospital del Niño: composed of two levels of basements, 18 service levels and three technical platforms, therefore, we have 23 platforms with 111.65 linear meters of vertical circulation (via elevators). The height of the tower will be 102.55 meters."

Another Setback for the Children's Hospital

Due to the fact that the company China Camc Engineering Co. Ltd. filed an appeal, suspension of the act for prequalification of the work, estimated at $281 million, has been ordered.

The General Directorate of Public Procurement decided to accept the Appeal Suit submitted by the representative of the Chinese company Camc Engineering, against the evaluation report for the act for the "Prequalification for studies, construction, equipment and maintenance of the new Children's Hospital, Maternity of the Hospital Santo Tomás, and annexed areas, restoration of the gardens and remodeling of the Abeja building".
