Services Exports in El Salvador

In 2011 sales of Salvadoran services abroad totaled $1.1 billion, 10% more than in 2010.

A statement from the Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments in El Salvador (PROESA) reads:

The Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments in El Salvador, PROESA, today (Wednesday 24th) held the 1st International Forum on Export of Services in order to raise awareness of global trends, the outlook for the region and the country as well of some of the success stories of exporters of services. The Forum's main purpose was to stimulate more interest by Salvadoran firms to venture into this activity with high growth potential.

The forum was attended by the Technical Secretary of the Presidency and Chairman of the Board of PROESA, Dr. Alexander Segovia, Minister of Economy and board member of PROESA, Mr. Armando Flores and PROESA Executive Director, Mr. Giovanni Berti.

Participants in this event learned about the prospects of the service sector by the ECLAC official, Jorge Mario Martínez Piva, the importance of having adequate national accounts for exports of services presented by Javier Peña, president of the American Association of Exporters Services, ALES, the Peruvian experience in the international promotion of services, provided by David Edery, representative of the Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments, PROMPERU, and the experience of a U.S. purchaser of services, Fred Isenberg, from New Generation Computing Inc., who emphasized the requirements Salvadoran companies must meet in order to achieve a successful internationalization of their business.

El Salvador: More Presence in Trade Fairs

El Salvador presents this day the "Plan of events for Trade Promotion and Investment Attraction in El Salvador 2016", through a public-private partnership composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Export Promotion and Investment Agency of El Salvador (PROESA ), the International Center for Fairs and Conventions (CIFCO), the Ministry of Economy, El Salvadoran Coffee Council and the Corporation of Exporters of El Salvador (COEXPORT).

Opportunities to Export to Mexico

A study highlights basic grains, corn products, bread, broth, snacks, frozen seafood, shampoo, cosmetic powders and plastics for home use.

The study on market trends in manufacturing, agri-food and drinks in Mexico conducted in southeastern Mexico by the Promotion Agency for Exports and Investments in El Salvador (PROESA) indicates that one of the most important challenges for Salvadoran exporters to successfully enter the Mexican market is to increase their level of knowledge about the national supply in Mexico.

Third Edition of Step by Step Export Program

April 2013

Targeting the markets of Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, the Export Promotion Agency of El Salvador has relaunched the program in support of SMEs.

From a press release published by the Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments of El Salvador (PROESA):

Under the Export Promotion Strategy, the Government of El Salvador launched on Tuesday April 16 the third edition of the Step by Step Export Program, a coordinated effort between the Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments of El Salvador (PROESA) and the Ministry of Economy (MINEC), which has the support of the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency (STP), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through USAID's development program for SMEs, and the Special Fund of Resources from the Proceeds of the Privatization of ANTEL (FANTEL). It is expected that one hundred Salvadoran firms will initially be assisted as exporters and that there will be negotiations totalling over $5 million.

‘3rd Exporters Meeting' In December

The event organized by Coexport will be held from 5th to 7th December at the Hotel Sheraton President in the Salvadoran capital.

The Exporters Corporation of El Salvador (COEXPORT) will hold the most important annual event for the export sector during which producers, exporters, institutions and service companies are able to gather together, listen, and interact with each other on the 5th ,6th and 7th December.
