Second Consultation for New VAT Law

Until April 2 will be in public consultation in Costa Rica the regulations of the Value Added Tax Law, which incorporates the changes of the first proposal disclosed on January 29.

This is the second consultation carried out, since on January 29, 2019, the proposal for "Regulation of Title I of Law No. 9635 of December 3, 2018, denominated "Value Added Tax Law" (VAT) was made available to the public.

March 19, 2019. Since this Tuesday, March 19, the Ministry of Finance put into public consultation the final draft of the "Regulation of Title I of Law No. 9635 of December 3, 2018, called "Value Added Tax Law", with the aim of citizens express their concerns about this document.

The project will be available on the website www.hacienda.go.cr (banner ads), for a term of ten working days, until April 2, 2019, as established in the second paragraph of Article 174 of the Code of Tax Rules and Procedures, and in the announcement published today in Alcance Digital No. 60, to La Gaceta.

Costa Rican VAT Regulations Released

June 2019

On June 11, the Regulation of the Value Added Tax Law was published in the official newspaper La Gaceta, which will begin to be applied next July 1.

The Regulation, which was published in Scope 129 of the official newspaper, was submitted for public consultation last March.

Until April 26 will be in public consultation the regulations of the Income Tax Law in Costa Rica.

April 12, 2019. As was done with the first proposal of the regulation to the Law of Value Added Tax (VAT), the Ministry of Finance made available on its website, the first draft of the project "Modifications and Additions to the Income Tax Law Regulation", which regulates Title II of the Law to Strengthen Finance, No. 9635, of December 3, 2018.

January 2019

Regulations of the Value Added Tax Law in Costa Rica are in public consultation until February 4.

January 29, 2019. With the aim of achieving the greatest possible citizen participation in the implementation process of the Law to Strengthen Public Finances, from today, Tuesday, January 29 and until next Monday, February 4, the Ministry of Finance will have available to the public the proposed "Regulation of Title 1 of Law No. 9635 of December 3, 2018, called "Value Added Tax Law" (VAT).

Costa Rica: Consultation on Tax Reform Extended

March 2015

The Ministry of Finance has postponed until April 17 the deadline for companies to make their comments on the draft legislation reforming income and sales taxes .

Originally the deadline for providing comments on the tax proposal was March 27, but at the request of several sectors it has been extended until April 17, according to the chief of Finance, Helio Fallas.
