San Pedro Sula: Gypsum Board Factory

With an investment of $22 million of which 75% has been contributed by Honduran businessmen, the company GypCen will be the first in the region to produce gypsum boards.

The plant, which has the capacity to produce 4 million boards a year, will supply the Central American market, which uses 12 million boards annually.

The company’s expansion plans include the rest of the region, starting with Costa Rica, where they hope to have a presence later this year.

GypCen President Alberto Diaz Lobo told Laprensa.hn, that "the surge that the construction industry has seen in San Pedro Sula, both in the commercial and residential category, represents a good opportunity to develop such industries."
