Russian Beer “Baltika” Enters Costa Rica

Baltika Brewery shipped its first container to the country: 14.000 liters of Baltika No 7 and alcohol-free Baltika No 0.

The product will be available in 500 ml bottles, which will be sold at $2.

Costa Rican health authorities have allowed 5 types of Baltika beer for the next 5 years.

This contract was negotiated at Expocomer 2010, which took place in Panama, on March. Russia’s beer industry was present, for the first time, via Baltika Breweries.

Beer: Imports Increase 45%

Beer Market Purchase Approved

The Superintendence of Competition in El Salvador has given approval for Cervecería Salvadoreña to buy the brands Regia and Suprema and their related assets.

From a statement issued by the Superintendency of Competition (SC):

June 19, 2018. Following the conditions imposed by the Superintendence of Competition (SC) for the authorization of the purchase of SABMiller plc (SABMiller) by Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) in El Salvador, by resolution of June 13, the Council Director of the Superintendence of Competition (CDSC) granted approval for Cervecería Salvadoreña, S.A. de C.V., to buy the brands Regia and Suprema and their related assets. This sale constitutes the main condition imposed by the SC. Through this action, the SC prevents the consolidation of a quasi-monopoly of beers in the country.  

Increased Competition in Guatemalan Beer Market

The Danish brand Carlsberg and Kronenbourg from France are to compete in the premium beer market.

The Carlsberg representative for Central America and director of Group Pivo indicated that there are plans to import about 650 thousand liters next year, of which they hope to sell 260,000 in the region.
