Roadworks Tender in Panama

Preparations are being made for the release of tender specification at the beginning of 2015 for the expansion to four lanes of a highway 9 kilometers north of the capital, in Las Cumbres.

Thursday, November 13, 2014

The road which reduces the distance between the north and east of the capital needs to have its existing structure renovated as well as construction of two additional lanes to improve the flow of the 800 vehicles which pass along it during peak traffic hours. It is expected that the funds to finance these works will come from the 2015 investment budget.

Former Director of Maintenance Works, Jorge Pitalúa told that "... The idea of extending this road is positive, although he also stated that the agency must use appropriate standards for the construction, design and planning, which includes the placement of signs, traffic lights and sidewalks where needed. "

'... This expansion will complement the expansion being done on the northern corridor route and the Domingo Diaz highway, which in 2015 will be intersected in order to build Metro Line 2. "
