Retail Trade Expands in Costa Rica

Almacenes Simán is evaluating real estate developments under construction and in shopping centers in San José and Heredia, in search of spaces in which to open two more stores in the country, in the short term.

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

The plan of the Salvadoran department store chain is to expand its presence beyond the two large stores operating in the Multiplaza shopping malls in Curridabat and Escazú.

Elfinancierocr.com reports that "...Now they are showing interest in reaching San Jose's Central Avenue and Heredia, where they are analyzing several real estate projects which have started, are under construction or have yet to be built. Of course, they are aware that their expansion process is much more complex than other shops because they require more than 8,000 square meters (m2) in which to develop their concept."

"... We have growth plans in the medium term. We still have very low coverage in the Greater Metropolitan Area and we are very interested in Heredia and the Central Avenue of San José. It is a question of finding the optimum commercial development in terms of the footage that they can offer us and obviously a location that ensures good traffic."
