From a statement issued by Del Sur El Salvador:

May 15, 2018. The Electricity Distributor DELSUR, together with the Vice Presidency of the Republic and Technical Planning Secretariat, the Vice Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the National Energy Council (CNE), the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA) and the General Superintendency of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET), announced this day the start of a new tender process for the generation of 28 megawatts (MW) of non-conventional renewable energy for solar photovoltaic and biogas distributed generation.

This new bidding process is the result of several studies carried out, in which it was possible to identify potential resources from renewable sources in the country, such as small-scale solar photovoltaic generation on roofs and on the ground and generation based on biogas through the use of organic waste in chicken, pig and livestock farms. These processes constitute an important tool for compliance with the strategic guidelines set out in the National Energy Policy for the Diversification of the Energy Matrix and Promotion of Renewable Sources of Energy.
