Regional Investments Office Will Establish HQ in Nicaragua

Managua will house the headquarters of the regional investment promotion office in early 2011.

Javier Chamorro, executive director of Nicaragua’s investments promotion agency (Pro Nicaragua), pointed that this office aims to coordinate the different regional investment promotion efforts.

Mr. Chamorro told newspaper “El Nuevo Diario”: “another purpose is to start defining technical cooperation initiatives and to develop a technical collaboration plan which will allow joint activities such as fairs.”

Elfinancierocr.com detailed that Sardimar will invest over $10 million to improve commercialization “creating some 250 jobs”.

Regional Office Set up to Promote Investment

The office will be in charge of developing investments in Central America and coordinating the arrival of companies interested in investing.

The creation of the office forms part of a strategic plan designed to attract foreign capital to the region.

"The presidential delegate for the promotion of investments in Nicaragua, Álvaro Baltodano, stated that the idea is to research all the strategic regional areas that can be optimized in order to attract more investment," reports Laprensa.com.ni.

Panama Promoted in Spain as a Strategic Enclave

In front of 300 Spanish businessmen, the President of Panama presented his country’s investment plan for the next five years.

President Martinelli noted that Spain is one of the largest investors in Panama, and told businessmen to take advantage of the country’s strategic benfits for installing regional headquarters for transnational corporations.
