From 3 to 7 May in Guatemala City topics will be addressed such as innovation and technology transfer in the cultivation of grains, vegetables, fruit, animal production and renewable natural resources.

The LX Annual Meeting of the Central American Cooperative Program for the Improvement of Crops and Animals will focus on the generation of technology innovation for sustainable agriculture. During the convention there will be conferences, workshops, mini-courses and presentations and help in order expand the practice of the themes discussed.

Some of the topics to be addressed include climate adaptation, utilization of beneficial microorganisms in crops, sustainable modernization of traditional agriculture management practices for sustainable production, biofortified crops, the role of organic matter in soil health , among others.

Panelists who will be participating include Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram, Dr. Allab Hruska, Dr. Armenia Velázquez from Mexico, Dr. Rachel Cox, representative from MasAgro, Dr. Leaver from IICA, Dr. Juan Osorno from the University of North Dakota and Dr. David Juarez a representative from FAUSAC, among others.

VII International Buffalo Breeders Symposium

Regional Congress on African Palm

From 15th to 18th of October Latin American producers of African palm in Guatemala will meet to discuss ways to increase productivity.

"We want this event to become a benchmark of quality (...), we have prepared a program with extremely important issues focussing on sustainable development of cultivation," said Jose Molina, president of the Union of Palm Growers in Guatemala.
